Play FLV files in Windows Media Player Tutorial

When you purchase the full version of Flix Pro you get the ability to playback FLV files in any DirectShow Player, like Windows Media Player or Media Player Classic.

The direct show filters installed will also let you import FLV files into any direct show compatible editor.

  • Download ffdshow filter. Goto http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow and download ffdshow-20041012

  • Run the installer.
  • Click the “Start Menu”. Then choose the “All Programs” -> “ffdshow” -> “Configuration”. This will popup a ffdshow properties dialog box.
  • Click the “Codecs” text in the left hand list box.
  • The “Supported Codecs” list box will appear. Scroll down until you see “FLV1″ in the format column.
  • In the decoder column next to “FLV1″ Click the “disabled” text. Then click again to drop down the combo box. Choose “libavcodec” and click the OK button.
  • You can now play Flash MX files in any direct show player.

Cartoon Classics in Flash video

On2 has put up 3 old cartoons on their website. The one with Bugs Bunny is one of my favorites. The files were compressed in Flash 8 video.
